Pest Control Timeline- What to Look for and When

Early Spring- Termites

As temperatures in Wilmington, NC start to rise, so do the termite swarms. Depending on the weather, subterranean termites usually begin swarming in March and April. This area of North Carolina is considered to have a high potential for termite infestation so it is important to take necessary steps to avoid damage from these insects. May and into the summer- Ants

North Carolina is home to more than 190 species of ants, including Imported Red Fire Ants, Odorous House Ants, Little Black Ants and Argentine Ants. June, July and August- Fleas and Cockroaches

In addition to ants, summer is the time to be on the lookout for fleas and cockroaches. Fleas generally enter dwellings on dogs and cats, and take up residence in carpets and furniture. Their eggs generally hatch during the hot humid weather that is common in Southport and Wilmington, NC throughout the summer months.
